German economy 'alive and kicking'

German GDP grew by 0.5% in the second after being boosted by higher household and state spending.
The European Union's largest economy was expected to expand by 0.4% between April and June.
Alexander Krueger, economist at Bankhaus Lampe, tells Reuters: "Despite all of the prophecies of doom, the upswing is not only alive it's also kicking.
"For the time being, the upswing is unlikely to be stalled by the global trade dispute or overheating," he said but added that the conflict with the US over tariffs was clouding the outlook for the second half of the year.
